440 Stainless Steel Damascus Lockback.wmv

Damascus Lockback Folding Pocket Knife- cgi.ebay.com Damascus steel is hot-forged steel used in Eastern swordmaking from about 900 AD. Damascus knives are of legendary sharpness and strength. Damascus steel is an alloy that is hard yet brittle at one extreme by adding up to 2% carbon, or a higher level of toughness yet ductile and malleable at the other, with about 0.5% carbon. The resulting steel strikes the perfect balance between hard and tough. The Chinese have been making Damascus steel for thousands of years same as the Japanese. The quality of Pakistani knives has improved greatly over the past ten years but is still not close to the quality of knives made in Japan or China. The difference is those thousands of years of experience! The Pakistani’s got into knife making as a strictly commercial venture where-as the Japanese and Chinese make them commercially but with great pride. Yes, there are factories that just produce knives for as little expense as possible and are just looking for profit. For the most part China and Japan have pride in their work from the corporate level down to the personal level. –Expert Metalworker · High Quality Cutlery · Handles are Jigged Bone · Polished 2.5″ 440 Stainless Steel Blade- A high carbon stainless steel offers a good balance of edge retention, easy re-sharpening and corrosion resistance. · Polished Brass Pins and Lanyard Hole Liner · Stainless frame, bolsters and liners · Bolsters are laser etched in a damascus pattern

Knife review: Spyderco Bushcraft UK: a beautiful tragedy

Bushcrafting (extreme survival, with little more than a knife as support) is a hobby that’s gaining popularity. With input from experienced Bushcrafters, Spyderco designed a sturdy outdoor knife that meets their heavy use needs. The result is a superb fixed blade knife, whose short commercial history was unfortunately plagued by problems (outside the control of Spyderco). Here we have a closer look at the knife and its background. This excellent knife is out of production but new variants will soon hit the market.

Gransfors Bruks vs Gerber Gator Axe , testing, Axe Care

Well for over a year now I have been testing the Small forest axe by Gransfors Bruks. And I love it. I recently used to fall a tree of decent size. I bought it as a replacement when my Gerber broke. It may have been a fluke. The gerber does just fine, but can I ever really trust it. Like I said, if its only a mora and an axe, it wont be the gerber that goes in my pack. True the GB has more up keep, costs more. But you wont find a nicer axe to use and own. Gransfors Bruks www.amazon.com Gerber Gator www.rei.com Gransfors Bruks Ax Book www.gransfors.com

Basic V Edge Knife Sharpening

Using very basic sharpening tools to sharpen a V-edge folding knife. It is a very basic & simple but fairly effective way of sharpening my V-edge knives. In this case, I’m sharpening my friend’s Spyderco Endura in ZDP-189 steel. The sharpener is just a Fallkniven DC4 whetstone – Diamond Surface on 1 side, Ceramic on the other side. Surely not the best diamond sharpening system, but a portable one. There are other portable diamond sharpeners, but I have not tried them, so I’m stuck with this one, my first and only. Leather strop to finish off. I further repaired the pretty damaged edge at the end of the blade after this video, using the same whetstone. Knife is shaving sharp throughout the cutting edge after the sharpening.
