I just bought an old vintage stiletto but its dull as hell. I’m wondering how to sharpen it correctly (without screwing up the blade). I have a regular kitchen knife sharpener but don’t know if I should use that. Any ideas?
No its like a long block with like a "V"shaped area to run the blade down.

I’ve had this knife (Meyerco Camp USA Blackie Collins 440 steel) for a while, and I’ve tried sharpening it with wet stones, ceramics, and a kitchen knife sharpener, with no luck. I’ve considered that maybe I’m just doing something wrong, but I have/had other knives with 440 blades and I’ve sharpened them easily. I know there are different types of 440, but should that make that much of a difference? It doesn’t say what type it is, just that it is. I also can’t find any information on the knife, since I don’t have a model name or number for it.

Since I haven’t had a shot in 16 years,
im wondering if there is any worry from getting a cut (sliced off some skin) from a permanently rusty looking kitchen knife?
(though the knife ive used for years and kept clean, recently sharpened)

its old, but it seems to work fine and no rust stains come off whenever i use it,
but has some orange rustiness to the handle i suppose (wood handle, full tang)

I bought this titanium dive knife and it isn’t very sharp and I’d like to get a nice edge on it. Can I use the knife sharpener in my kitchen knife block?

Quickly Carl dashed, his feet flying across the hardened snow. He dodged towering trees, leaped over logs and slowed his pace on the ice. Panting, he finally burst to a stop, unable to run any further. Struggling to catch his breath, Carl settled himself on the snow, and rested his back on the surface of a rough tree trunk. The warmth that had approached him while running, quickly disappeared, leaving Carl rather cold.

Silence filled the lifeless, motionless forest. That was the way it should be right now, quiet. Quiet, so Carl could think.

The recent memories haunted him, and remained vivid within his mind. The memories, where his parents had stormed downstairs, with a sharpened kitchen knife, ready to murder him. Still, the voices of horror continued to scream in Carl’s consciousness. Speaking, they were insulting and swearing, at him. Believe it or not, this was the voice of Carl’s parents.

The scratches, bruises, and bleeding that invested Carl’s arms reminded him of these horrible thoughts.

He had always apprehended, though that his parents had disliked him, ever since he was very young. Though, never did Carl think that they wished to kill him until this moment. Unlike other regular parents, they had never took the time to educate him, about riding a bike, or playing chess. In Carl’s family it was extremely rare to do any sort of activity together, like going to the swimming pool, or traveling out of the country. That was an affair that he had always desired to experience, travelling. Only his parents didn’t invest much fund, and a vacation was none of their interests.

i have a semi-blunt pair of scissors and was wondering how you can sharpen them at home. Can you sharpen them the same way you do a kitchen knife?

So last week, I came an hour late due to traffic, and he was sitting in my swivel chair. MY precious swivel chair. And he took out this pocket knife and started rubbing his nails against them.
He said, "So, Jerry, late again?" in this threatening tone of voice.
"Yes," I said cheerfully, because I was not phased by this. I had a Pop Tart for breakfast. Those things can do wonders, you know?
And then he grits his teeth and clenches his knife harder like he’s really really mad at me! I don’t even know why! I was courteous like he tells us to be!

So anyway, on Monday I found him glaring and grinding his teeth at me again, because I had ate the very last donut in the kitchen. I waved at him and smiled, because maybe I’d get a payraise if I did.
Then, on Tuesday, I left my lunch to go use the bathroom. After I returned, my salad smelled funny. I noticed a bottle of Windex on the window sill next to my table. Someone must’ve sprayed it on my salad! The tomatoes had some sort of medicational pill on the inside when I cut them open. I didn’t want to eat it so I gave it to my dog.

On Wednesday things started to get seriously suspicious. When I was out walking some guy blindfolded me and handcuffed me. They dragged me into the closet and pressed something against my throat. It felt like a really thin paper, but I’m pretty sure it was shiny and some sort of metal!? So I told this guy that I wasn’t in the mood, my boss was going to be worried, so I just wrestled my way out and left. I didn’t see my captor but I wasn’t late to the meeting, at least!

On Thursday I had to take my dog to the vet and use one of my days for a mini break. Russell died, unfortunately. I was devastated. What in the world could’ve killed my dog?

Today, my boss looked even more furious at me than usual. He took a kitchen knife and started sharpening it with a block of rock and saying "Soon, soon…" while glaring at me the whole time!

So is my boss trying to fire me? I’m so scared, I don’t want to lose my job!

I recently aquired a case xx knife, the model number is 6256 sab. This has it rolling of the production line in the early to late 70′s. My issue is the damn thing won’t take an edge. I spent an hour on a water stone(my oil stone isn’t available) trying to put an edge on it. After awhile I was despereate for just a workable edge, so I used my fathers kitchen knife sharper(füri from ozitech. It is diamond, and almost idiot proof), and after checking for an edge many times 20 minutes later still there was’t any sharp edge. I’m getting pissed, I learned how to sharpen from a pro, and never had issues like this before.

I just want to sharpen my katana in a very basic, easy way. Nothing special. I do have a kitchen knife sharpener in my house, and i’m willing to use that. I just want it a little sharpened, and nothing too extreme or unrealistic. Just give me a simple way, and i mean no "grinding stones" and no sand paper or anything like that.

If i sharpen my SW groves with a kitchen knife , will it help the spin rates or decrese them . i have tryed it before with vaired succses . Btw i do clean my clubs after every shot , and use PRO V1′S !! . an also is it legal ?
