I would like to buy my boyfriend a nice gift and I know he likes knives, I have bought him a Henkle Santoku something I don’t know it was one 5 inch knife for like so it better have been good, he said he liked it and it was very good. Anyways I would like to buy him something to sharpen and hone the knife. Also was thinking maybe buying him another knife. What would I buy that is very good quality for sharpening and honing and where would I find it. Plus what would be another knife he could get a lot of use? He loves to cook. I just want to buy the right thing and I will spend a bit of money but like say no more than 0 for both. We live in Orlando, FL. Thanks so much I have no clue with kitchen stuff.
Link to what I got him: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=13879290
Okay maybe like 0-160. Thanks!

I have a sog bowie hunting knife and a sog flash ii black tini tanto knife that I bought earlier this year and am looking to buy a second every day carry kind of knife. Maybe something smaller and I could just carry two.=) Anyways the flash ii is an assisted opening folder that is medium size and the black length is 3.5 inch. I was thinking maybe a ken onion leek might be good. I’ll pay a little over the budget for quality but I have a amazon gift card and don’t want a lot of cash out of pocket considering I already have a great knife. Please send links because I know there are different models and pricing.
Leek- cheapest I can find please tell me if the steel is any good, I know they are sharp and have great reviews. I just don’t know if they stay sharp or if i can re sharpen easily like a sog.
http://www.amazon.com/Kershaw-Onion-Folding-Knife-Speed/dp/B0009VC9Y0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294279080&sr=8-1
Last but not least I’m left handed and it’s a hassle to close my sog assisted opening knife. The leek I think is a lot easier for lefties…
10PTS!!

Ok guys, I’ve been looking at hunting knives for literally YEARS! I want to buy my fiance a really nice knife for a wedding present (we’re getting married in two months). He "lost" his favorite knife about 3 years ago (he had to leave it behind when we were going through a metal detector and –of course– it was gone when we returned). I’ve seriously never seen him so devistated over a "material possession" and still to this day doesn’t like to talk about it. Yeah– he got that upset about his knife!!!
Anyway, meanwhile he carries around some cheap knife, but I really wanted to get him something NICE, that he could carry every day, and actually use– I don’t want something that will sit in the tin collecter’s box forever (what good is that?).
Unfortunately, I never really noticed what kind of knife he used to have!
I’ve tried to hint about it, with no luck. So I decided to just look for a good quality knife, and not worry about what he used to have!
I’ve looked at Case knives (I think he likes this brand- I’ve heard him comment on a friend’s Case before). I also looked at Buck knives- I really think he’d LOVE this one-
http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SceneSevenDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=27548&scene7Path=BassPro%2f1508308_i-624819%3flayer%3dcomp%26wid%3d500%26hei%3d500%26fmt%3djpeg%26qlt%3d100%2c0%26op_sharpen%3d0%26resMode%3dtrilin%26op_usm%3d0.2%2c1.0%2c0.0%2c0%26iccEmbed%3d0&sourceName=images2%2fLago%2f1508308_i-624819.jpg&type=0&linkEnabled=false
…just not sure about the price on that one (so expensive!). Is the knife really, honestly that high of quality? Would he be able to use it DAILY?!
I also thought he might like something like this:
http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_63800____SearchResults
…All I know is that he’s not the kind of guy who likes "utility" style knives. He’d rather have one with a handle made of whitetail antlers versus a steel/black/blued handle… You know what I mean?!
Also, he definitely USES his knives. He actually works in a forest- forestry and wildlife are his career, not just a hobby. So I think he puts a lot of value on a "good, quality knife".
Does anyone know any really good options for him? …And remember, this is a wedding gift, so I just don’t think a knife from the tractor supply store will really do.
Any imput would be really, really helpful! Thanks!!!!!

Hello all,
A family member has received from one of his friends a variation of this knife:
http://www.arizonacustomknives.com/products/?id=3324
The knife we now have lying on a table has a black handle, the last grip indentation for the pinky finger appears to be more pronounced, and maybe most importantly, the blade has three slight notches on the blunt side, towards the handle, leveling out on the side of the engraving.
My question is this, are there any more for sale, and if so, how much so, or is this a complete custom make that was not even available for sale to the public.
More info:
Made by Walter Stockdale, he passed away in 2007.
Specs;
Blade material:Steel
Blade size:3 1/2" Sharpened From Tip To Guard
Bolsters:Probably Nickel Silver Single Guard
Butt cap:Probably Nickel Silver Buttcap
Handle:Maroon Micarta – Closed Construction
Overall:7 3/4 in
Sheath:Leather w/ Belt Hanger
Spacer:Red & Silver Spacers

I had bought a knife set that promised to be the "sharpest knife in the world" & said they never needed sharpening. Ha! I can’t even cut a tomato without making a mess. It’s really hard cutting meat. Which brand of knives are truly sharp?

I was looking online for one of the best sharpening systems for a low price. And on Amazon.com I found two that both look great and a two dollar price difference. A little problem though, one has more varieties of grit on the stone, and another is a diamond one with one less sharpening hones.
The Smith’s DFPK Diamond Precision Knife Sharpening Kit includes; a Coarse Diamond Stone, Fine Diamond Stone, Fine Arkansas Stone, Medium Triangular shaped Arkansas Stone for serrated edges only, a Diamond Retractable Sharpener, and Premium Honing Solution.
The Lansky Deluxe 5-Hone Sharpening System has; Comprehensive knife sharpening set for all types of blades
Features 5 sharpening hones of different coarseness
Color-coded finger guards for convenience and safety
Comes with comprehensive instructions and tips. (this one doesn’t have the stone coarseness in description)
I would like that if any of you viewers have either one of these sets would you please leave me a review pointing out each’s flaws and which one just puts a better edge on the knife. I will leave the links for both sets underneath this paragraph. And please don’t give me crap because I don’t use whetstones. Trust me I have tried whetstones over and over, but I cant get the angle for a consistent razor sharp edge.
